Tricolour Chapati

- recipe by Dahlia submitted on Aug 15th 2013

Here is a tri colored chapatti recipe that is perfect for celebrating Indians independence. Of course you can enjoy it any day as it is packed with nutrition.

For orange color

  • Whole wheat flour (Atta) - 1/2 cup
  • Carrot puree - 1/4 cup
  • Salt - 1/4 tsp

For green

  • Whole wheat flour (Atta) - 1/2 cup
  • Green peas puree - 1/4 cup (You could also use spinach or any other green leafy vegetable puree.)
  • Salt - 1/4 tsp

For white color

  • All purpose flour - 1/2 cup
  • Salt - 1/4 tsp

  1. Make a smooth puree of the carrot and green peas. You need about 1/4th cup of puree for 1/2 cup of flour.
  2. Make a smooth chapatti dough with the each list of ingredients separately. You will have 3 colored dough.
  3. Pinch a small ball from each colored dough (blueberry size).
  4. Press these balls together in the order - orange, white and green.
  5. Roll this combined dough into a thin chapatti.
  6. Cook it on a tawa. Enjoy with some ketchup, raita and hari (green) chutney
