(Creamy Mango Pudding)

Mango Pudding is a rich and creamy dessert made with mango pulp and cream. Gelatin is used to thicken the mix. Fresh mango pieces are added to add a nice texture to the pudding. It is quite a simple dessert to make for any get togethers or for guests.

There are a few other desserts that are made which looks similar to mango pudding but has a different texture. One is the Mango Mousse which is lighter and has more air filled in because whipped cream is mixed in with the mango pulp. There is also Mango Custard in which corn starch or custard powder is used to thicken the milk and mango mixture. Do check out both the recipes.

This Mango Pudding is kind of semi solid and tasty dessert. Be sure to try this out next time you have guests over.

Recipe For Mango Pudding

Preparation Time : 15 minutes
Cooking Time : NIL
Serves : 10 - 12

Ingredients

  • Mango Pulp - 1 can (30oz / 850gm)
  • Heavy Whipping Cream (or Fresh Cream) - 500ml
  • Sugar - 3/4 Cup
  • Gelatin - 3 Packets (Plain/ Mango flavoured)
  • Hot Water - 1 Cup
  • Ripe Mango - 1

Method

  1. Mix gelatin and sugar in 1 cup hot water. Keep stirring until it is completely dissolved. Let it cool for 10 minutes.
  2. Take mango pulp in a big mixing bowl. Add the sugar and gelatin syrup to this and mix well .
  3. Next add heavy cream and mix well.
  4. Add mango cubes from fresh mango to get mango texture. Mix it.
  5. Pour the mixture into a big glass pan or individual serving bowls and refrigerate for atleast 3 hours before serving. The pudding will set to a thick and creamy mixture.
  6. Serve as such or with some whipped topping.

Tips

  • Vegetarians can get veg friendly gelatin or jelly or agar agar to set the pudding.
  • I sometimes like to pour some mango jelly or orange jelly mix on top of the prepared pudding. Also add some fresh mango or orange slices on top as garnish. Set it again for another hour. This gives a beautiful jelly topping.

Hi I would love to try this recipe but I have one question , do we need to whip the cream before adding to the mango pulp,Please answer ASAP

Reply :-
Hi Vasundhara. You don't have to whip the cream for puddings. Puddings are little on the denser side. If you whip it, it will become more like mousse.

do u put whipping cream or is it tin milk.

I've put whipping Cream. You could also add milk instead but cream gives a creamier and richer texture.
