Sweet Diamond Cuts

Recipe for Diamond Cuts

Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 30 minutes
Serves: 6

Ingredients

  • Wheat flour - 2 cups
  • Egg - 1 (optional) 
  • Sugar - 1 cup
  • Cardamom powder  - 1 tsp
  • Salt - to taste
  • Oil - for frying

For making Sugar Syrup

  • Sugar - 3/4 cup
  • Water - 1/4 cup

Method

  1. Add salt, egg, cardamom powder, oil to the wheat flour.
  2. Add boiling water and knead the dough like as for chapati. Keep it covered for 30 min to 1 hour.
  3. Pinch out large sized balls and start rolling it like chapathi (not so thin nor so thick).
  4. In a dosa pan, put this and slightly heat on both sides.
  5. Take this out and keep in a wooden board. Cut into diamond shaped pieces.
  6. Deep fry these diamond shaped pieces and take it out.
  7. Now prepare sugar syrup. In a pan, add water and sugar and heat thoroughly till it reaches one string consistency. Switch off the flame.
  8. Put the fried diamond pieces into this sugar syrup and mix till it forms a coat over the diamond cuts.
