What is your idea of a relaxed Sunday? For me, it is about waking up late, have a nice strong cup of coffee, clean the house, go out for a nice lunch in an exotic restaurant, take a nice nap on return and get set for the coming week. Who does not like to eat food in a restaurant? It is the fanciest thing one can dwell in. But with the increasing prices in the restaurants, usage of subsidized quality of ingredients, poor hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchens, overcrowding in restaurants, long and tiring hours in traffic make eating in a restaurant a dreadful experience than a pleasant one. Though online ordering or ordering through phone does solve the issues of traffic and overcrowding, the other issues still remain an unanswerable question.
But what makes restaurant eating a fancy one? Effortless meal, relaxed eating maybe due to the ambience of the restaurant set up (this is applicable only when we go to a posh and luxurious restaurant), variety of dishes available in one go, presentation of the dishes are probably one of the many reasons.
The important question we need to ask ourselves is, are we ready to forsake our physical and mental health for these small fancy pleasures. Well!! I am not completely against the idea of going to a restaurant. You could go once in a month or two but definitely not on a regular basis. Especially, when you can cook all those dishes in a much healthier, cleaner and a nice way.
To create the restaurant feeling, you could also re arrange your furniture and dining settings at your home. The whole family including the kids can participate and enjoy it as a family activity. To bring in the variety of dishes similar to that of a restaurant, a little of planning may be required. For an example if you have decided a south Indian menu, using the idly batter you can make idly, sambhar idly and dosa. Make chutney as an accompaniment. The options and choices are plenty, all up to ones imagination and creativity. Still want to indulge in restaurant food or you have already got the kitchen ready…
