"Raw foodism (or rawism) is the dietary practice of eating only uncooked, unprocessed, and often organic foods or wild foods." as defined by Wikipedia. It can include raw fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, sprouts, raw milk, raw milk yogurt and sometimes raw meat. There have been many health conscious people these days who are slowly transitioning to raw diet.
Well, In India, we may not be comfortable with a long term raw diet. However, including raw food in your diet as often as you can surely helps. It will help in detoxifying our system. Detoxification (shortly called as Detox) is a process to help us cleanse our system and make us more healthy. In our body there is an ongoing detoxification to remove the toxins formed by the food we eat and also through the environment we are exposed to. Our body system is naturally designed to transform the toxins and excrete them out of the body. In order for this to happen naturally, our body should get a break from the regular exposure to processed foods, heavy diets and environmental pollution.
The raw food are low in calories but contain increased amounts of nutrients like vitamins and minerals, it also has high fiber which eliminates the toxins by increasing the bowel movement.The unhealthy diet has been been the leading cause of headaches, fatigue, lack of concentration, feeling bloated, indigestion, bad breath etc. More and more dietitians are recommending a detox diet once in a while.
The main aim of this article is not to promote a diet plan. Please consult your doctor or a dietitian if you intent to go on a long term detox diet or raw diet. This is for normal people who want to take a break from the heaviness of life. Also, these days I get questions asking about recipes ideas for 'Cooking without fire' cookery competitions.
