Diwali (Deepawali) is also called as the Festival of Lights. The word deepawali itself means row of lights. It is one of the important festival celebrated by Hindus and Jains. There are many traditional practices done during Diwali that include lighting of diyas, bursting of firecrackers, wearing new clothes, sharing sweets and savories with friends etc. The preparation for Diwali usually starts days before with cleaning the lamps, preparing sweets etc. Each year I see my friends breaking their head about what sweets to make for Diwali.
