(Sauces, Dips)
As children, one of the earliest dip I remember is the “Maggie hot and sour” sauce with which we used to eat our vegetable puffs that we usually buy from the “Iyengar bakery” in my neighborhood. But, as the science in kitchen was explored and enhanced, we have umpteen varieties of dips and sauces. Dips are commonly used for finger foods, appetizers and other easily held foods. When guests are coming over, a snack of chips and dips is the first thing that comes to mind. The best part is that many amazing dips can be made instantly within minutes. Each tip tastes its best when it is eaten with the right finger food. For all the Indian snacks and chaat varieties, the green chutney, mint chutney, red chutney and the tamarind chutney are the most sought in dips. The Mexican style tangy tomato salsa makes a perfect accompaniment with tortilla chips or even our desi khakra. The mayonnaise is a perfect accompaniment for garlic bread and it can also be used as a spread while making burgers and sandwiches or even dosas. So, you don’t need guests to arrive for making the delicious and yet easy dips. Make any yummy hot snack this weekend and serve it along with a dip, your entire family would just sing praises for you again and again.
