Maharashtrian Cauliflower Sukhi Bhaji

This is typical Maharashtrian bhaji made with cauliflower. This is special as it is made without onions and garlic.

Recipe For Cauliflower Sukhi Bhaji


  • 1/2 kg cauliflower cleaned and cut in small flower
  • 2 medium potatoes medium sized chopped 
  • 100-150 gms green peas 
  • 1 medium size tomato chopped 
  • 6-7 green chilli  cut in medium piece
  • 2 string kadipatta

For Tadka

  • Oil 2 teaspoon, 1/3 mustard seed, 3/4 teaspoon jeera, 1/4 teaspoon hing, 1/2 teaspoon haldi powder
  • Goda masala 2 teaspoon, salt and gud to taste, 
  • Fresh coriander chopped and 1 inch ginger grated for garnish


  1. In a heavy bottom pan heat oil.
  2. Make tadka of mustard seeds, jeera, hing, haldi powder, kadipatta, green chilli. Let tadka splutter.
  3. Add cauliflower , potato, green peas and goda masala and give a good stir.
  4. Now add 1-1.5 cup of water and stir all together.
  5. Add salt and gud for taste and stir.
  6. Cover the pan with lid and let it cook for 10 minutes.
  7. Once cooked add tomatoes and allow it cook for two minutes but do not cover.
  8. Once cooked garnish with chopped coriander and grated ginger and give a quick stir. Cauliflower Sukhi Bhaji is ready to be served.

Serving Suggestion

  • Serve the Cauliflower Sukhi Bhaji hot with roti or varan Bhat.
