Onam is a festival celebrated by the Malayalees. Onam starts on the day of ATTAM Nakshatram and goes on till Tiruvonam Avittam Chadayam [Tiruvonam - onnam (first) onam, Avittam - rendam (second) onam and Chadayam - moonam (third) onam]. It is a festival celeberated to welcome Mahabali, the demon who ruled the kingdom for a long period with happiness, health and wealth. In all the houses, still people are following the tradition .
