My father in law is an ardent fan of natural medicine. He always believed that home based medication is the best way to treat any ailment and also keep the infectious and lifestyle diseases at bay. He also thought that it is the best way to strengthen the immune system and build resistance in our body.  He was heavily diabetic and wanted to cure himself by natural medications. He would go to the nearby Ayurveda clinics and get in some powders, mix it with honey and then consume it as per advice. When we went for vacation last time, he gave all of us an herbal green colored drink and told us very strictly that only when we finish the drink, we will get our regular cup of coffee. We were expecting the drink to be bitter and hard, but to our surprise it was aromatic, tangy and tasty. Do you know what juice it was? It was freshly prepared coriander juice.

Coriander or cilantro is an easily available green herb that we primarily use for garnishing many Indian cuisines. We can also grow coriander easily in our kitchen gardens. Coriander has many nutritive advantages and consuming it as a juice gives us the advantage of complete absorption of its nutrition.

Cilantro juice is extremely beneficial in the treatment of stomach problems, stimulating the digestive tract to produce digestive enzymes which aid digestion and preventing flatulence. The roughage and fiber in coriander juice are also helpful in relieving gastrointestinal issues. Coriander juice has natural antimicrobial properties that prevent the spread of infectious bacteria; thereby it protects our system against urinary tract infections. Coriander is also rich in potassium. Hence coriander juice gives body enough potassium and lowers blood pressure. The antioxidants and acids in coriander reduce the bad cholesterol levels and help unclog arteries.

Coriander juice contains many beneficial acids that help in the regulation of the endocrine glands. A glass of coriander juice everyday will help in regulating menstrual cycles and relieve related pain. It is also helpful for women especially those suffering heavy and painful menstrual flow. The stimulating effect of coriander juice on the endocrine gland also increases the secretion of insulin which is important in the absorption of blood sugar. Including a glass of coriander juice lower the chance of sudden spike and drop in the blood sugar levels.

Coriander or dhaniya juice also has anti inflammatory properties due to the presence of certain compounds. The acids in coriander juice have anti rheumatic and anti arthritic properties that help in reducing swelling in joints and fight skin inflammations. Due to this characteristic coriander juice can be used as a natural remedy for conjunctivitis. Drinking coriander juice regularly can help fight free radicals that cause oxidative damage to our body which in turn lead to several diseases. It has been confirmed that coriander juice reduces oxidative stress in the kidneys by increasing the antioxidant enzymes and antioxidant levels.

On a whole, coriander juice flushes out toxins from our body and prevents infections like dysentery, cholera, food poisoning and listeria. The liver and kidney will filter out the toxins in our body and flush it out.

Enjoy this miracle drink which is easy and quick to make and say cheers to a disease free health.
