[Chandraseniya Kayastha Prabhu (CKP) style crispy fried fish]

This is a typical fried fish recipe from the Chandraseniya Kayastha Prabhu (CKP) community cuisine.

Recipe For CKP Fried Chicken

Ingredients

  • Any fish - 1/2 kg (1 lb)
  • Oil - to fry

To make a paste

  • Red Chillies - 10
  • Ginger - 3 gms
  • Garlic - 10 cloves
  • Coriander Leaves - handful
  • Tamarind Pulp - 3 tbsp or Lemon Juice - from 1 medium size lemon
  • Red Chilly Powder - 2 tsp
  • Asafotida - a pinch
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt - to taste

For coating

  • Rice Flour - as needed
  • Channa Dal Flour - as needed

Method

  1. Make a paste of all the ingredients.
  2. Coat the fish with the paste and marinate for half an hour.
  3. Fry as it is or coat with the crispy coating and fry.
