Paneer Manchurian

Paneer Manchurian is a tasty Indo Chinese style preparation that will be enjoyed by everyone. The soft paneer coated with a tasty batter is fried to get a crispy coating. It is then tossed is a delicious manchurian sauce. This can be made dry and served as an appetizer for some parties. It can also be made saucy and served with some fried rice.

Recipe For Paneer Manchurian

Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 30 minutes
Serves: 4

Ingredients

For Frying

  • Paneer - 250 gms
  • All purpose flour (Maida) - 1 tbsp
  • Corn flour (or corn starch) - 3 tbsp
  • Ginger-garlic paste - 1/2 tsp
  • Red Chili powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Pepper powder -1/2 tsp
  • Salt - 1 tsp
  • Water - 3-4 cups

For Sauce

  • Onion - 1 or 3-4 whites of spring onion (chopped)
  • Garlic - 1 tsp (finely chopped)
  • Ginger - 1 tsp (finely chopped)
  • Green Chilies - 2 (finely chopped)
  • Tomato Ketchup - 2 tbsp
  • Red Chili Sauce - 2 tsp (or as per your spice level)
  • Soy sauce - 2 tsp
  • Vineger - 1 tsp
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black Pepper Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Corn Starch - 1 tbsp
  • Water - 1/2 cup

Method

  1. Cut the paneer into cubes. Dry them in a kitchen towel.
  2. Take the paneer cubes in a mixing bowl, add the ginger garlic paste, red chili powder, black pepper powder and salt to this and mix together.
  3. Add corn flour, all-purpose flour and mix together. If needed, add 1 tbsp of water to help with coating.
  4. Heat oil in a kadai and add these paneer cubes. Fry in medium hot oil or shallow fry in a pan till it gets evenly cooked in all sides. Do not fry too long or the paneer will become hard.
  5. In a frying pan, take 2 tbsp oil and saute the finely chopped onions, ginger and garlic.
  6. Mix the tomato sauce, red chili sauce, vineger, soy sauce, corn flour and water in a bowl. Take water depending on the sauce you need.
  7. Add this sauce mix to the pan. Add salt and black pepper powder as needed. Bring it to a boil.
  8. Finally add the fried paneer chunks and toss with the sauce so that each piece is coated well.
  9. Add finely chopped green onions and switch off.
