(Chicken Burrito, Beef Burrito, Chicken and Bean Burrito)

Burrito is a Mexican dish which can be very easily made to suit our Indian flavor and taste. It is a complete meal very delicious and satisfying. In this flour tortillas are stuffed with a variety of ingredients and rolled to form a wrap. The ingredients can be varied depending on individual taste and availability. Here I have shared a basic recipe which can be modified in hundreds of ways to suit to individual taste.

Here I have used Chicken and Beans as the main stuffing. Vegetarians can skip on the meat. Do try it out.

Recipe For Burrito

Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 30 minutes
Serves: 4


  • Chicken breasts (boneless skinless) - 2
  • Tortilla - 4
  • Kidney Beans - 1 cup (You can also use other beans like black beans, cowpeas etc.)
  • Rice - 1/4 cup
  • Garlic - 1 clove (minced)
  • Taco Seasoning mix - 2 tbsp (or as per taste)
  • Tomato - 1
  • Capsicum, Onion - 1/2 cup (sliced)
  • Cilantro, Corn etc. - 1/4 cup (chopped)
  • Lettuce - 6-8
  • Avocado - 1 (sliced)
  • Salsa - 4 tbsp
  • Cheese - 4-6 tbsp (grated)
  • Sour cream - 4 tbsp
  • Cilantro - for garnish
  • Oil - 1 tbsp


  1. Wash and soak the kidney beans overnight. Pressure cook the beans with salt and 1 tbsp taco seasoning. Keep aside.
  2. Cut the chicken breast into strips. Heat oil in a frying pan and stir fry the chicken pieces with some salt and black pepper. Remove and set aside.
  3. Cook the rice with 1 minced garlic clove, 1 tomato pureed, cumin powder, salt and 1 tbsp taco seasoning. Spanish rice is ready for stuffing.
  4. Peel and slice the avocado. Chop the coriander leaves. Keep corn ready. You can skip the ingredients that you do not have on hand.
  5. Slice the capsicum and onion. Saute it for just a minute to remove the raw texture and keep aside. You can skip the capsicum and onion too if you do not like it.
  6. Shred the cheese and keep it ready. Also keep sour cream and salsa ready.
  7. Once all the stuffing items are ready, you can start preparing the wrap.

  8. Take a flour tortilla and heat it on a griddle or microwave as per package directions.
  9. Place the filling in the middle. Keep lettuce leaves, grilled chicken pieces, cooked beans, spanish rice, avocado slice, capsicum, corn, cilantro etc. There is no specific measurement. Add the items as per your taste. Top with shredded cheese, salsa and sour cream.

  10. Fold it as shown in the picture. Enjoy the burrito.

  • The fillinf ingredients can be reduced or increased or totally skipped as needed. It all depends on individual taste.

       Skip the meat and use only the beans filling with some spanish rice,guacomole, salsa, sour cream and cheese.

        Here's the recipe for tortilla. You can also use chappatti instead of tortilla.
