By now, my online friends would have got an idea that my family just loves hamburgers, also known as Beef Burgers. I love making variations to the basic beef burger that has grilled patties sandwiched between burger buns along with lettuce, onion and tomato slices. I already shared the recipe for Beef Burgers with Caramelized Onions.

Today I will be sharing Beef Burger with Egg and Bacon. This is my favourite one. I tasted this first in Red Robin I guess. It has all of my favourite things in one burger - eggs, bacon, beef patties.

As I always say, if you do not eat beef, make these with ground turkey, ground chicken or lamb. Serve the burgers with some potato fries and a side salad to make a complete meal.

Recipe for Beef Burger with Bacon

Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • Burger Buns - 4
  • Eggs - 4
  • Bacon - 8
  • Butter – for toasting the buns
  • Cheese Slices - 4
  • Mayonnaise - 4 tbsp
  • Iceberg Lettuce (or any other lettuce) – 4 leaves
  • Onion circles - 8 pieces
  • Tomato circles – 8 pieces
  • Red chili Sauce – 2 tsp

For Beef Patties

  • Ground Beef – 1/2 kg (1 lb)
  • Garlic – 3-4 cloves (finely chopped)
  • Wosterschire Sauce - 2 tsp
  • Salt – to taste (about 1 tsp)
  • Black Pepper Crushed – 1 tsp
  • Fennel Seeds - 1 tsp
  • Dry red chilies - 2

Method

  1. Dry roast the fennel seeds and dry red chilies for about 30 seconds. Coarsely powder it. You can add fennel powder and red pepper flakes instead.
  2. Take the ground beef in a strainer and rinse it under running water. Leave it on the strainer till all the water drains off. After that take the meat in a bowl.
  3. Add the powder that we prepared, finely chopped garlic, wosterschire sauce, salt and pepper powder. Mix everything with your hands till it gets combined.
  4. Divide the mixture roughly into 4 equal parts. Take one portion and shape it into a patty. Make an intendation in the middle of the patty with your thumb to prevent the patties from bulging in the middle while cooking. Shape all the 4 patties about the size of the buns and keep it aside.
  5. Wash the lettuce, onion and tomatoes. Slice the tomatoes and onions into circles.
  6. Heat a dosa tawa or stove top grill pan. Cut the burger buns in half and toast the burger buns with some butter first. Keep it aside.
  7. Fry the eggs one by one in a small frying pan and keep aside. Also, fry the bacon on the griddle until it becomes crispy. Keep aside.
  8. Gently place the patties on the hot griddle, cook for about 4 minutes on the first side. Flip the patties and cook the other side for another 4 minutes till you get nice grill marks.
  9. Now place a cheese slice on each patty. In just a minute, the cheese will start melting. Assemble the burger immediately and enjoy for best taste.
  10. Take the lower part of the bun, spread some mayonnaise. Place the cooked patty with the cheese on top. Add the fried egg and 2 bacon slices on that.
  11. Top it with one lettuce leaf, 1 or 2 slices of tomatoes and onion. Carefully close the burger with the top bun. You can spread some hot sauce on this top bun if you like it. Enjoy.
