(Murmure Methi Vade, Puffed Rice Fritters)

Murmura methi vada is a crispy deep fried savory snack made with murmura (puffed rice), methi (fenugreek leaves) and regular indian spices which are always available in indian homes. This tasty vada is crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. Murmura methi vada is a wonderful evening snack with a hot cup of tea or coffee on a rainy day.

Recipe For Murmura Methi Vada

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Serves: 6

Ingredients

  • Puffed Rice (Kurmure) - 2 cups 
  • Methi (Fenugreek Leaves) - 1 bunch
  • Onion - 1
  • Ginger Garlic GreenChili Paste - 4-5 tsp
  • Coriander Leaves (Kothimbir) - handful (chopped)
  • Turmeric Powder (Haldi) - 1/2 tsp
  • Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Sesame Seeds - 2 tsp
  • Ajwain (Carom Seeds) - 1 tsp
  • Jowar Flour - as required 
  • Salt - to taste 
  • Oil - for frying 

Method

  1. In a bowl soak 2 big vati unsalted kurmure for hardly 1-2 minutes, squeez water and keep it aside. 
  2. To it add roughly chopped cleaned methi leaves, chopped onion, crushed (garlic ginger green chilli), little kothimbir (coriander leaves), haldi, red chilli powder, til (sesame seeds), ajwain and salt to taste. 3. Give a good mix. Once mixed properly add jowar atta as required. Methi leaves and onions leave water once salt is mixed with it.
  3. Grease palms with oil and give shape of vada and deep fry till golden brown on low medium flame. 
  4. Hot murmura methi vada is ready to be served.

Serving Suggestion

  • Serve the garam garam (hot hot) murmura methi vada with pudhina (mint) chutney or any hot sauce.
  • It is a wonderful evening snack with a hot cup of tea or coffee on a rainy day.
